Trade a Topstep account from a native Mac app through TopstepX API access, with the setup steps and the account rules.

By Lightwick Updated

Your TopstepX account

Topstep says TopstepX is its only available trading platform. It runs in a browser at topstepx.com/trade, and Topstep has no mobile app. To use a Mac app instead, Topstep sells TopstepX API access, powered by ProjectX, separately from your Topstep subscription: $29 a month, or $14.50 with the discount code Topstep publishes. Live Funded Accounts can’t trade through the API.

For your Mac setup

Subscribe to TopstepX API access, create an API key in TopstepX under Settings → API, and sign in to Lightwick with your TopstepX username and that key.

Set up on Mac

  1. Subscribe to API access

Create a ProjectX Dashboard account, subscribe to ProjectX API Access, and apply Topstep’s code, topstep, for 50% off. Then link the subscription in TopstepX under Settings → API.

  2. Create an API key

In the same API tab, choose Add API Key and keep the key somewhere safe. In Lightwick, choose TopstepX and sign in with your TopstepX username, not your email address, and the key.

  3. Turn on Auto OCO Brackets

To attach a stop and a target to an entry from Lightwick, select Auto OCO Brackets in TopstepX Risk Settings. Lightwick places one stop and one target per entry on TopstepX.

Using Lightwick

Lightwick connects to TopstepX directly from your Mac with your API key, and brings charts, market depth, footprint charts, order entry, and account tools into one native window. Footprint and order flow data build live from the current session.

Lightwick is free during beta. Create an account to get started, with connection guidance for your trading account.

Can I trade my Live Funded Account from a Mac app?

No. Topstep says Live Funded Accounts are not allowed to trade through the ProjectX API, so they stay on TopstepX itself. Trading Combine and Express Funded Accounts, which are simulated, can connect.
